We love the Hobbit Cafe for a lot of reasons, but we’re especially fond of the outdoor patio and the lively ambiance that this place has to offer. Whether you get a filling chicken salad sandwich, a big plate of nachos or you just go for one of the many beers on draught, we think you’ll thoroughly enjoy your experience at Hobbit Cafe.
Carrabba’s
If you’re going to go to Carrabba’s, you might as well go to the original location on Kirby. This is American-Italian food at its finest, with top-notch red sauce and some of the best lasagna in town. For great drinks at a low price point, head to Upstairs Bar & Lounge during happy hour. This place has an outdoor patio that’s lovely when the weather is warm, and plenty of indoor seating for when it’s not. In addition to the reasonably priced cocktails, Upstairs Bar & Lounge has delicious spinach dip, pizzas and crab cakes. If you need a quick bite to pair with your beverage, look no further than Upstairs Bar & Lounge.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better happy hour than the one at Anvil Bar & Refuge. From 4-5 on weekdays, they offer all of their 100 cocktails at half the normal price. You’ll have to skip out of work early to take advantage of this deal, but we think it’s worth it. This place is gorgeous too, with a huge wall of bottles behind the bar that just begs to be photographed. See you there, residents!
Last but not least, we have the coziest bar on our list. Simone on Sunset has big leather couches and dimly lit rooms, making it the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and a charcuterie board. We love this bar for the ambiance, but we can also appreciate its extra long happy hour. If you do decide to go, try to get there between 4 and 7 pm on weekdays. Oh, and bring your appetite! We’ve heard nothing but good things about the thick-crust pizza at Simone on Sunset.

Welcome to the final blog post of 2018 from your community of Greenway Plaza apartments! With the new year approaching quickly, now is as good a time as any to make some healthy changes in your life. One such change could be to make some changes to your fitness routine. Going to the gym every day can get old after awhile, but there are plenty of other ways to get your heart rate up.
That brings us to the topic of this week’s blog post; bike trails. We have a lot of cycling enthusiasts at Metropole apartments, and Houston is filled with bike trails for cyclists of all skill levels. We’ll be talking about a few of our favorite trails in the blog post below.

The first cycling spot on our list doubles as one of the most beautiful natural spaces in Houston. Whether you bring your own bike or rent one from the park’s bike rental facilities, you’re guaranteed to find plenty of scenic trails in Buffalo Bayou Park. This is a great place to spend a whole day, as you can visit the the park’s food truck lot when you’re done riding your bike. One of the other cool things about Buffalo Bayou Park is that the bike trails connect to multiple other parks in the city. If you want to explore Houston on two wheels, this is the spot to start.
A lot of cyclists look for well-paved paths when scouting out new new trails. If you’re looking for a smooth ride, we recommend that you head straight to the White Oak Bayou Trail. The paved portion of the trail stretches for eight miles, but there are also a few gravel offshoots that go into the more wooded parts of the park. Give this place a shot next time you feel like busting out the bike, residents!
Everyone knows about Memorial Park because it takes up a ton of land in the heart of Houston. However, a lot of people don’t know about the dozens of off-road bike trails that criss-cross the heavily-wooded park. If you’ve got a bike with off-road wheels, we highly recommend that you give this place a shot.

Sundays are a big deal for football fans living in our apartments in Greenway Plaza. Texans fans and Cowboys fans don’t agree on much, but the two fanbases can agree that wings are a must on game day. Once you’ve decided that you need wings, celery and bleu cheese in your life, all that’s left to do is decide whether to order in or go watch the game at a restaurant. It’s not an easy decision, but you can make it a little easier by reading this week’s blog.

The TV situation isn’t as good as some other wing spots on our list, but the wings are. If you do end up getting your wings to go, that’s an easy process as well. We recommend ordering the honey sriracha wings or the lemon pepper parmesan. You really can’t go wrong with any order, just be sure to grab some of the sweet potato fries as well.
If you’re looking for a wing place with a sports bar feeling, check out Wing-N-Things. The hot wings come out absolutely drenched in sauce, so prepare your taste buds accordingly. Wing-N-Things has a huge interior with plenty of screens, and their wings are packed with meat. These two components add up to an awesome game day experience at one of Houston’s best chicken wing restaurants.
Big drumstick wings, plenty of sides to choose from and an awesome location make Big City Wings the easy choice for Texans fans on game day. If you’re tired of going to chain chicken wing spots and want something a little more authentic, head to Big City Wings and upgrade your game day experience.

What’s your dog’s favorite park in the neighborhood around your apartments in Greenway Plaza? If he or she doesn’t have one, it’s high time you showed your pups some of the amazing parks in the neighborhood around Metropole apartments.
In the blog below, we’ll be sharing a list of some of our favorite dog parks near Metropole. Check out the list below, and be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your community of Greenway Plaza apartments!
The first park on our list is tucked away in a secluded location. If you take the time to find it, however, you’ll be rewarded with a park that’s rarely crowded. Danny Jackson Park has a lot of gravel and rocks, which means it does get pretty muddy on rainy days. On hot days, however, there’s no better place to take your pup for a swim. If your dog hates crowds and loves water, check this place out ASAP!
We love dog parks that have seperate entrances for small dogs and large dogs, and Johnny Steele Dog Park fits the bill. Not only does this place have designated area for little pups and big ones, but it’s also got a huge pond where dogs can splash around. Be sure to bring a towel for your four-legged friend! You don’t have to worry about your dog getting too dirty, however, because Johnny Steele Dog Park has a water fountain where you can wash off your pup.
For a nice clean dog park experience, head to Levy Park. It’s on the smaller side, but we love it because of the lack of mud. There isn’t much dirt, which means rainy days are no issue at Levy Park. Like other parks on this list, Levy Park is separated into areas for large dogs and small dogs. The small dog area has artificial grass and hills, meaning it’s always clean enough for even the pickiest pups.
Last but not least, we have the newest dog park in the Houston area. It’s a super urban space that’s still sparkling with that new park shine. There’s a big hill that dogs can chase each other up and down, and plenty of seating for owners to enjoy while the pups get some exercise.

Houston has a robust job market, but with all these cool jobs comes lots of top-notch competition. Lucky for you, we’re here to help you stand out from the crowd.

Pay attention to design
Employers know that everyone has access to software that can make a resume look good. That means there is no excuse for having a resume that’s poorly designed. There’s no shame in using a template either; a good looking resume is better than an self-designed resume that leaves something to be desired in the design department. If you don’t feel confident with the design of your resume, ask someone to take a look at it and let you know if it looks good. A second opinion can go a long way.
Put the good stuff up top
The biggest difference in resume design over the past decade is the emphasis on the top third of the page. Yes, even your resume needs to have keywords. These days, a lot of resumes go through a scanning software before they ever make it in front of real person. If you want your resume to make it through this first round of robo-reviews, you’re going to have to add the keywords that you see in the job description! You should be writing your resume based on the job description anyway, so this practice is only one small extra step in the grand scheme of things.

This blog is for every resident who just moved into Metropole apartments in Greenway Plaza. We’re happy to have so many new faces in the community, and we’re here to help you get situated in your new place. Whether you’ve been here for a week or a month, we want to make sure you feel comfortable in your new place.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to write a blog about the best ways to furnish your new place! We’re not here to help you decide between the leather couch and the suede one, or tell you to get a wood coffee table instead of a metal one. What we are here to do, however, is share some general guidelines that should help you make the most of your available floor space. Living in an apartment is all about maximizing square footage, using light to your advantage and creating a space you’re comfortable in.

Make room for rugs
A good rug can do a lot for a room. A large rug can set the tone for the whole ambiance of the room, while a small rug can section off one part of the room to be used as a reading nook, a dog-area, or whatever you like. If you’re going to get a rug, get one with a light color. Dark rugs might hide spills and stains better, but if you can keep it clean, a light can do wonders to brighten up a room and make it seem more open and airy.
Pay attention to scale
If you’ve ever been in a well-furnished apartment that looks like it was assembled by an interior designer, you know the importance of scale. Having furniture that matches in terms of size goes a long way towards making your space seem more put together. If you buy a massive couch, you’re going to need a massive coffee table and end tables to match. If you buy a moderately sized couch, however, you can be a little more flexible with the rest of your furniture.
Keep large furniture away from the entrance
Your biggest furniture should be in the back of the room. That way, you’ll have clear sightlines when you walk into the room. This make a huge difference when it comes to your own — and your guests’— perception of your space!
