What’s your favorite thing about living in our community of apartments in Upper Kirby? For a lot of our residents, it’s the location in the heart of Houston. People who love embracing the various cultures in the city love it here. Houston is a busy, happening city. If you want to go to every event and try every new restaurant, our location in the heart of the city is ideal for your urban adventures. Every once in awhile, however, our residents need to escape the hustle and bustle of Houston. When you reach that point, we recommend taking an easy day trip.
There are tons of different day trip destinations that can be reached by car in just a few hours. In the blog post below, we’ll be talking about a few of the most popular mini-vacation spots in Texas! Next time you feel the urge to escape the city for a spell, head to one of these day trip destinations and get away from it all.
Let’s get right to the list of day trip destinations, shall we? When you finish reading this week’s blog, please be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your community of Greenway Plaza apartments.
Camp on the sand on Mustang Island
One of the coolest ways to get to the ocean without dealing with crowds it to park right on the beach on Mustang Island. You can put your tent up behind your car, put a couple chairs in the sand, and enjoy the sounds of the ocean and a sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. It’s only a few hours away!
Try all the wine in Fredericksburg
There are few better ways to feel like you’re on vacation than by trying several different kinds of wine. Lucky for you, nearby Fredericksburg is absolutely filled with wineries. If you leave in the morning, you should be able to make it there around lunchtime, just in time for a charcuterie board and a couple glasses of white wine.
Snap a pic of a snapping gator at Brazos Bend State Park
Houston is filled with bayous, but none of those bayous are filled with alligators. That’s probably a good thing, but if you’ve ever thought it might be cool to see a gator in real life, you’ve got to head down to Brazos Bend State Park. This park is brimming with native wildlife including alligators, hundreds of bird species, and fish that you can catch if you bring a rod and reel. If you really want to escape the city for a bit, give this place a shot!
